It was a real pleasure to meet so many of you in person this month.
Our World Cancer Leaders’ Summit brought together over 400 delegates from 55 countries in Melbourne (read about it here) and was marked by the launch of the new World Cancer Declaration 2025–2035 (see video recording below).
We were also pleased to see many of you at AORTIC 2025 in Hammamet, Tunisia where participants shared insights on strengthening cancer data systems in Africa and ensuring that lived experience informs policy and practice. We further connected with others at the COP11 and MOP4 meetings in Geneva marking two decades of global tobacco control – a reminder of how sustained collaboration can deliver real impact for public health.
November was also about advocating for greater resources for cancer prevention, treatment, and care, notably in lung cancer, a key priority for UICC, as November was Lung Cancer Awareness Month. We also marked World AMR Awareness Week (18-23 November) and the first official cervical cancer elimination day of action on 17 November, underlining how integrated approaches to infection control, vaccination, screening, and treatment can improve outcomes. You can read articles on these topics on the UICC website.
Thank you again for your trust in UICC and your dedication to cancer control. We look forward to turning the commitments of the new World Cancer Declaration into action with you over the upcoming years!
Warm regards,
The UICC Team
